Robin’s Egg Blue and Red Room Inspiration

My television/ computer room has all left over red themed decor from my old apartment’s bedroom. Red is really difficult to decorate with because it involves a fine line between cool and country. Right now it feels too country and I’m so ready to spice it up with some cool, if that even makes sense. My goal this summer is to make it very contemporary with robin’s egg blue/ aqua blue  mixed with red accents.

This room is in desperate need of a cream and aqua blue rug, aqua blue and red pillows, aqua blue table cloth and blanket and red/blue artwork. I wish I could afford to do this all at once, but it will take some time! Here are my inspiration photos

Cute pillow, needs more of a red than burnt red

Gotta Make a Diaper Cake

My mom told me diaper cakes have been around forever, I had no clue. Pinterest brings out the oldest and neatest crafts. A co-worker showed me the diaper cake that she made for a bridal shower and I expected cake in the shape of a poo-ey diaper..not the case! What a cute idea! So, I decided to make one for my sister-in-law’s baby shower.

-2 packs of size 1 or 2 plain diapers

-String for tying

– 1 1/2 Yards of pretty ribbon

-Crate paper (optional)

-Baby items to decorate

-Cake plate (I used a snack platter from dollar store)

-Round Cake pans for forming

-Glue Gun

Here are some great instructions and photos:

First, establish the back and front of the cake to tie string and glue ribbon. Then place folded diapers in a wrapped circle inside the platter and tie it with string in the back. Make sure and fill the middle with diapers or baby powder to stabilize the next tier. The next tier can be formed in a 9″ cake pan and tied.

Once all of the tiers are formed, you can begin glueing the ribbon around them. Only use a dot of glue on the back of the cake for the ribbon to stay. Next you can place the binkies, flowers, letters or shoes on the cake. Just poke them into the spaces between the diapers.

Here are some beautiful diaper cakes others have done.

Photo Window Frame

I really needed a wall space filled behind my couch, and I waited forever thinking of what to add. Etsy artwork was ideal, but too expensive. My searches on Etsy didn’t end in wasted time because I found the window frame idea and realized how simple it is!

There are many varieties of hanging photos in an aged window. Here is my version of the project. But I don’t have the step-by-step process, I’m sorry!

What you’ll need:

-Aged window frame

-Hemp, wire, or twine

-Staple gun

-Close pins

Simply staple the twine to the back of the window frame in a straight line from one side to the other. Be sure to leave room for a photo to hang before adding the next line of twine. I did two lines which was plenty.

I am slowly gathering pictures that I really want to hang up here since it is in my living room. The wedding invitations are especially pretty.
